14) at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Fitchburgh, FeD. 12, 1898, and lived in the Hartford area since 1935. He worked in the home building and repair business for 40 years. Prior to that he and a brother traveled the United States and England with a vaudeville act.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine of West Hartford; a son, Allen of Hartford; a sister, erna Corliss of Belmont, three grandchildren, Judith Ackerman of West Hartford, Jerome Ackerman of Hartford, and James McLean of Sacramento, and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Armstrong; a daughten, Beverly McLean; and granddaughter, Susan Ackerman. There are no calling hours. Talarski Maple Hill Chapel has charge of arrangements. Begina, of 85 -Sheffield Drive, Windsor, died Sunday (Oct.

14) at Hartford Hospital. She was born in New Haven, daughter of William F. and Elizabeth (Grandbois) O'Neil of Branford, and had lived in Pennsylvania before moving to Windsor 12 years ago. Mrs. Begina graduated from St.

Mary's High School, New Haven, received her Bachelor's degree from the college of New in 1969, and her Master's degree from Penn State University in 1973. Mrs. Begina was a special education teacher at Conard High School, West Hartford, for the past 12 years, and prior to that as a special education teacher for years at Vanguard School, Wayne, Pa. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel Church, Windsor.

Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by a son, Clark Farrell Begina; a daughter, "Catherine Kyle Begina, both at home; two brothers, William F. O'Neil of Lincoln, R.I., and John O'Neil of Milford; two sisters, Kathleen O. Westervelt of South Kingstown, R.I., and Joyce 0. Messier of Waterbury; and 16 nieces and nephews. He was born in "Hartford, Nov. 18, 1968, and was a resident of Manchester. He had served in the from January 1986 to December 1988, and was a member of the -Connecticut Army National Guard, Manchester unit. He atmended Manchester schools, ManPettester High School, and was a graduate of Technical Careers Institute, Windsor. He was the beloved husband of Agnes (Wolk) Roy. Born in Fort Kent, Maine, he had been a Newington resident for the past 16 years, and was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Mr. Roy was formerly employed by Fafnir Bearing his wife, he leaves a daughter, veteran of World War II. Besides Newington, and was a U.S.

Army Sandra Cousin of Pulsa, a brother, George E. Roy of Maine; two sisters, Germaine Roy of Hawaii, and Jean Hebert of New York; three grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews. Sheehan, 67, of Storrs Road, Mansfield Center, died Saturday (Oct. 13), from injuries sustained in a automobile accident. He was born Sept. 7, 1923 in Jamestown, R.I., the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (O'Toole) Sheehan, Sr. After gradvating from Rogers High School, Mr.

Sheehan entered the Naval Air Corps in the V-5 Program. He served in World War as a Naval aviator. At the conclusion of the war, he attended the University of Rhode Island, and began a life long career with the Builders Iron Foundry as a sales engineer, culmulating with his retirement in 1985 after 37 years of service. Mr. Sheehan was a past member and treasurer of the Jamestown Bridge Commission, the Jamestown Volunteer Fire the American Legion Post No.

22, as well as a charter member of the Jamestown Lions Club. A resident of Mansfield Center for 23 years, Mr. Sheehan was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, Storrs, and an active member of the Mansfield Lions Club. For several years, he was the chairperson of the Club's Eye Research Fund Raising Project.

Mr. Sheehan was the past chairman of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Waterworks Association and a recipient of the prestigious Fuller Award, a national award given in recognition of outstanding service to the water supply industry. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Bliven) Sheehan; four children, Susan E. Sheehan of Branford, Thomas B. Sheehan, Mansfield Center, James M.

Sheehan of Meriden, N.H., and Stephen A. Sheehan of Leominster, a brother, Richard E. Sheehan of Lincoln, R.I.; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Elizabeth and Emily of Meriden, N.H., and Christopher of Mansfield Center; and numerous nieces; and nephews. Born in Brookview, N.Y., Aug. 8, 1928, he was the son of Harry A. and Sylvia (Williams) Strait. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a retired machinist.

BYRNES. Henry A. "Bevo" Byrnes, 84, of 57 Garvan East Hartford, died Sunday (Oct. 14) in St. Francis Hospital.

He was born in Burlington, and had lived in East Hartford since 1938. Prior to his retirement, he was a sheetmetal worker for local No. 40, Hartford, for 45 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, and a past president of the church's Men's Club.

Mr. Byrnes was a former member of the East Hartford Town Council, and served on the East Hartford Board of Health. He was a charter member and past Grand Knight of the Rev. J.C. Martin Council, Knights of Columbus No.

3901, East Hartford, and was a member of Msgr. Drennan Assembly 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus, East Hartford. Mr. Byrnes received the award as the First District Distinguised Democrat of the Year in 1987. He leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary (Picard) Byrnes of East Hartford; two sons, Michael P.

WHITTY. Walter G. Whitty 90, of West Hartford, husband of the late Catherine E. (Cronin) Whitty, died Monday (Oct. 15) at a local nursing home.

Born in Hartford, he had lived in the area for all of his life, and in West Hartford since 1960. A retired employee of Arrow, Hart Hegeman, he was a member of St. Brigid Church, West Hartford. Mr. Whitty is survived by two sons, George Whitty, and Robert Whitty of Avon; and nine grandchildren, Nancy Amodio, Beth-Ann Whitty, Mark Whitty, Suzanne Whitty, George Whitty Jonathan Whitty, Holly Whitty, Robert J.

He received his engineering degree ferom Cornell University in 1925, was National Vice-president of the Society of Automotive Engineers, was a member of the University Alumni Association, and the Theta Delta Phi Fraternity. He is survived by a son, Donald K.

Higbee was a member of the Ferrisburgh (Vt.) United Methodist Church. He was a member of the North Ferrisburgh (Vt.) Volunteer Fire Department for the past 18 years. He was awarded the Line Officer of the Year in 1986 from the Addia a a son County Firefighters Association. Prior to moving to North Ferrisburgh, in 1972, he had lived in Hartford for many years, and had worked at Atlas Frame Co. He had been very active in his community known as Little Italy, and well liked and respected in this community.

Mr. Higbee was the Ferrisburgh, forest fire warden for the past nine years. He was also awarded the Citizen of the Year in 1987 from the Ferrisburgh Grange. Mr. Higbee was a past member of the Scottish Rite, South Burlington, Vt.

He had retired from the University of Vermont's Given Building after 15 years. Mr. Higbee is survived by his wife, Lois (Blundell) Higbee of North Ferrisburgh, six stepchildren, Tonia Huizenga of North Ferrisburgh, Lorie Sachar of New Haven, Linda Bushey Vergennes, James Breur of Vergennes, Curt Huizenga of Ferrisburgh, and Dawn Procell of Colorado; many grandchildren; his parents, Heman and Bertha Higbee of North Ferrisburgh, two sisters, Mrs. Shirley Anderson, and Mrs. Gerturde Sica, both in Connecticut; a brother, Henry H.

Higbee in Connecticut; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was Oct. 10, 1990, 11 a.m., at the Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeffrey M.

Stratton officiated. Organist was Mrs. Anna Husk. Special music was provided by the Certain Sounds, Bev Swasey, the Vermont Tres Dias Musicians, and the Ferrisburgh Center Choir. Delegations in attendance were firefighters from the Ferrisburgh, Vergnennes, Charlotte, New Haven, Middlebury, Shelburne, Weybridge, Addison, and Beechers Falls Fire Departments.

Howard, 98, of 41 E. Granby Road, Granby, formerly of Enfield, husband of the late Elizabeth (Ashe) Howard and Martha (Graham) Howard, died Monday (Oct. 15), at the Masonic Home and Hospital, Wallingford. Born in Springfield, he had lived on Booth Road in Enfield most of his life. Before retiring, he was employed the Town of Enfield as a chief mechanic.

He was a World War I veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a life member of Hampden Lodge A A in Springfield, at the Tanguay McGill Post No. 80 American Legion in Enfield. He leaves two daughters, Mrs.

Barbara J. Cotton of Granby, and Mrs. Audrey J. Bunting in Arizona; five grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Private services will be held with burial in Old Thompsonville Cemetery, Enfield.

This memorial service is requested by Eleanor's friends. NUTT. A memorial service for Roy Nutt, a 1953 graduate of Trinity College and a former resident of Glastonbury, will be Friday, Oct. 19, 5:30 p.m., in Trinity Chapel. Mr.

Nutt, a Charter Trustee of the College, died in June. He served on the Board of Trustees since October 1983. He was awarded the Eigenbrodt Cup, Trinity's highest award for an alumnus, during his 35th Trinity reunion.
