The Cast of Magic Mike: Where Are They Now? (2024)

On June 29, 2012, a scrappy and sexy band of male strippers bumped (and grinded) their way onto the silver screen in director Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike.

The 2012 film followed Channing Tatum’s titular character, Mike as he took troubled newbie Adam (played by Alex Pettyfer) under his wing — introducing him to Florida’s wild world of male stripping. Magic Mike was a hit with both audiences and critics and went on to spawn two sequels, an HBO Max reality series, a Las Vegas revue and a stage musical.

To mark the film’s 12th anniversary, have a look at Magic Mike’s cast of beefcakes then and now.

Channing Tatum as Magic Mike

Already a major Hollywood star, Channing Tatum was known for his fancy footwork in 2008’s Step Up 2: The Streets, his action movie prowess in 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and his comedy chops in 2012’s 21 Jump Street, so bringing his lived experience as a Tampa stripper to the title role in Magic Mike was seamless.

In the years since, Tatum has continued to show off his versatility, starring in dramas like 2014’s Foxcatcher, action flicks like Jupiter Ascending and The Hateful Eight as well as comedies Hail, Caesar! and The Lost City.

He’s reunited with Soderbergh for 2013’s Side Effects and 2017’s Logan Lucky, and reprised his Magic Mike role in both Magic Mike XXL (2015) and last year’s Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

Tatum has two films expected to be released later this year: the Greg Berlanti directed romantic comedy Fly Me to the Moon and fiancée Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut, Blink Twice.

Prior to his engagement to Kravitz, Tatum was married to actress Jenna Dewan from 2009 to 2019. The couple share a daughter, Everly, born in 2013.

Matthew McConaughey as Dallas

Matthew McConaughey has been a Hollywood heartthrob since the ’90s, and his pre-Magic Mike credits include classics like Dazed and Confused, A Time to Kill and The Wedding Planner.

McConaughey followed up his role as a veteran dancer in Magic Mike, with an Oscar-winning performance in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club. He received widespread acclaim and an Emmy nomination the following year for his performance in HBO’s True Detective, and starred in director Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar. In recent years, he’s taken some big swings in films like Serenity and The Beach Bum.

In 2021, McConaughey floated the possibility of running for governor of his native Texas, and has spoken out in favor of “commonsense gun laws.”

McConaughey has been married to model Camila Alves McConaughey since 2012. The couple have three children: 15-year-old Levi, 14-year-old Vida and 11-year-old Livingston.

Alex Pettyfer as Adam

Already something of a teen idol in the U.K., British model and actor Alex Pettyfer made the jump to rising Hollywood star in 2011’s Beastly before starring as Adam — a.k.a. “The Kid” — in Magic Mike.

He went on to appear in director Lee Daniels’s The Butler (2013) and starred in the 2014 remake of Endless Love. Since then Pettyfer has mainly appeared in less high-profile thrillers like 2017’s The Strange Ones, 2020’s Echo Boomers and 2022’s The Infernal Machine. This year he’s appeared in three films: the vampire horror flick Sunrise, action comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and spy thriller Chief of Station.

Pettyfer married German model Toni Garrn in 2020, and the couple welcomed daughter Luca the following year. In April 2023, Garrn announced that she and Pettyfer were divorcing.

Prior to his breakthrough role as werewolf Alcide Herveaux in HBO’sTrue Blood, Joe Manganiello already had an impressive resume, including roles in two of Sam Rami’s Spider-Man films and recurring roles on shows like How I Met Your Mother, ER and One Tree Hill.

In 2012, he brought his strapping physique to the role of stripper Big Dick Richie in Magic Mike and has returned to the role in both sequels. In 2016, he played a version of himself opposite the late Paul Rubens in Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, and has appeared in films like 2018’s Rampage, 2019’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and even had an uncredited cameo as antihero Deathstroke in director Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Last year, he starred opposite Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson and Maya Hawke in The Kill Room. Most recently, he took on hosting duties for NBC’s Deal or No Deal spin-off Deal or No Deal Island.

Matt Bomer as Ken

The Cast of Magic Mike: Where Are They Now? (5)

Matt Bomer may have had a handful of film roles under his belt when he scored the role of Ken in Magic Mike, but he was already becoming a star on the small screen. Roles on soaps All My Children and Guiding Light as well as Chuck preceded his 2009 breakthrough as the star of USA’s White Collar.

After Magic Mike, Bomer’s star only continued to rise. He went on to guest on Glee and has since appeared in several other projects from producer Ryan Murphy — including two seasons of American Horror Story, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and the 2020 remake of The Boys in the Band. His performance in Murphy’s 2014 adaptation of The Normal Heart earned him an Emmy nomination and a Golden Globe Award.

From 2019 to 2023, he starred in the HBO Max superhero series Doom Patrol and he returned for both Magic Mike sequels.

Last year, he supported Bradley Cooper in Maestro and earned critical acclaim and a Peabody Award for his starring role in Showtime’s Fellow Travelers. Variety recently reported that Bomer is set to star opposite Nathan Lane in an upcoming Golden Girls-esque sitcom from Murphy and the creators of Will & Grace.

Bomer came out publicly as gay in 2012, and has been married to publicist Simon Halls since 2011. The couple have three sons: eldest Kit, born in 2005, and twins Walker and Henry, born in 2008.

Adam Rodriguez as Tito

The Cast of Magic Mike: Where Are They Now? (6)

TV crime procedurals have been Adam Rodriguez’s bread-and-butter since well before he took on the role of Tito in Magic Mike. Since the late ’90s, he’s starred in Brooklyn South, CSI: Miami and Criminal Minds. He also had main roles in the third season of Roswell, on the short-lived CBS legal drama Reckless, and recurring roles on Ugly Betty and Jane the Virgin.

Like many of his castmates, Rodriguez returned for both Magic Mike XXL and last year’s Magic Mike’s Last Dance. He’s also directed several episodes of CSI: Miami and Criminal Minds.

Rodriguez has been married to model Grace Gail since 2016. The couple have three children.

Kevin Nash as Tarzan

The Cast of Magic Mike: Where Are They Now? (7)

Pro-wrestling legend Kevin Nash was 52 when he stepped out of the ring to strip down as the hulking Tarzan in Magic Mike. But the film wasn’t his first foray into the movie biz.

In 1991, he appeared as Super Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. When he wasn’t cracking skull for the WWF and WCW in the ’90s and early 2000s, Nash appeared in small roles and cameos in films like the Patrick Swayze action thriller Black Dog, 2004’s The Punisher, and the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard.

After Magic Mike, Nash went on to appear in 2014’s John Wick and reprised the role of Tarzan in both Magic Mike sequels. He also reunited with co-star Channing Tatum in 2022’s Dog.

Nash has been married to wife Tamara since 1988. The couple’s only son, Tristen, died tragically from cardiac arrest in 2022 at the age of 26.
